Welcome to the JB Griffin Memorial Foundation.
Inspired by the deep love JB held for his family and community before he passed away from cancer in 2011, our foundation seeks to keep his spirit alive by investing in local organizations. JB's wife, their five children, and Shaner Hotel Group, where JB worked as Senior VP and Chief Financial Officer, have partnered to continue giving back to the communities in which we do business.
Our mission is to meet the growing needs of our region and continue JB Griffin's legacy through financial grants to local 501(c)(3) organizations, funded by our annual golf tournament and other events. Our primary recipient for 2022 is Strawberry Fields, which provides a continuum of services, enhancing the lives of individuals and families with developmental delays, intellectual disabilities and mental illness. Other current beneficiaries include ThinkBIG.
JB loved his job, so much that he worked up until a month before he passed away from cancer. His illness was difficult for his family, but JB never complained. He lost his battle with cancer two days after celebrating his daughter Maggie's 16th birthday, an event he wouldn't have missed for the world. The love he showed them inspired his family and Shaner.
Always ready with a hug or a kind word, JB Griffin was devoted to his family and community. A loving husband, member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, and father of five, JB never tired of attending his children's recitals, sports games, and award ceremonies. In his role as Senior VP and Chief Financial Officer at Shaner Hotel Group, he successfully oversaw a portfolio of more than 40 hotels.
The members of our board volunteer their time and talents to further the mission of the JB Griffin Memorial Foundation. Because of them, we continue to serve our community and the organizations that work every day to make the lives of our friends and neighbors better.
