JBG Golf Classic

 

The JB Griffin Memorial Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization formed to provide financial support to charitable organizations that assist people in need.

The JB Griffin Memorial Foundation will direct the proceeds from the 16th Annual Shaner Golf Classic to the House of Care and Housing Transitions.

The 2017 Golf Classic will be held on Thursday, August 10th and Friday, August 11th at the Toftrees Golf Resort. The tournament features a scramble format with a shotgun start at 1pm on Thursday, with registration opening one hour before the start.. Lunch will be served at noon, prior to the start. The tournament will continue on Friday, August 11th with shotgun starts at 7:30am and 1:00pm, with breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Registration will open one hour before the start time for each flight. A casual lunch will be served 11:30am to 1:30pm. Deadline for entry: July 31st (or until spots are filled).

Each team consists of four players and need to be at least 21 years of age. You may enter as an individual golfer, twosome or foursome.

A social will be held at the Toftrees Golf Resort on Thursday, August 11, 2017 at 6:00pm—9:00pm. Also for $20 per team, plan to participate in the 6th Annual Red Solo Cup Challenge, a bean bag toss tournament. This tournament is limited to fifty (50) contestants.  The winning team will receive a trophy and $500. The Annual Red Solo Cup Challenge honors JB Griffin. JB and his son Kevin won the 1st Annual Red Solo Cup Challenge.

We will also have a closest to the pin contest on Thursday night featuring glow in the dark golf balls on the driving range. Start time to be determined.

An awards dinner will be held immediately following tournament play. Spouses and friends not playing in the tournament may purchase dinner wristbands for $25 per person. Guest reservations must be paid in advance. Golfers will receive dinner wristbands in their registration packets. Due to our liquor license guidelines, all players and guests must be at least 21 years of age and we ask that children do not attend any functions.

One registered golfer will go home the winner of a 50/50 cash drawing on Thursday and Friday.  All registered golfers will have a chance to step up to the tee, hit a hole in one and win a new Mercedes or Audi. Team prizes for each flight will be awarded. Low net 1st – 3rd place and low gross 1st – 3rd place. Individual skill prizes will be awarded for each the blue and white course for the Longest Drive, Straightest Drive and Closest to the Pin.

Over the past 15 years, the Golf Tournament has raised over $586,000 to support the community.
